Do lightbulbs actually give off light? New evidence shows otherwise.

So after my great idea with the mirror and the spaceship (which has probably revolutionized space travel) I got to thinking about other mysteries of the world I could solve, then it hit me. Light bulbs, they appear to glow right? Well that's wrong. Light bulbs don't give off light they merely suck in the dark. Now for this to happen dark would have to be a self-generating substance and i though about that and it makes sense because if you turn off the light bulb it gets dark. Also light bulbs don't "burn out" they merely get full and when a light bulb breaks it gets dark because all the dark is escaping. I know, I know, genius.
